Grand Re-Opening Wednesday For Uptown Jewel-Osco

To celebrate its recent makeover, Jewel-Osco at 4355 N Broadway will be holding a Grand Reopening, starting at 8am Wednesday.  Details were sparse when we went on Monday, but a rehab is never a bad thing.  The last time it had a remodeling was when Target opened, and the arrival of Mariano's seems to have sparked this one.  Ah, competition, we love it.

Lakeview Patch has an article on the upgrades to expect.

  2. I think the new owners are remodeling a number of Jewel locations and also getting rid of self scan altogether I heard, which I don't really mind except it was faster when the stores are busy. I don't see how they improved the liquor area by no longer having a cashier back there for people who come in just to quickly buy alcohol and leave, however.

  3. Hopefully, they will serve liquor a bit more responsibly. At 7AM, when the shelters get out there is a line waiting to buy booze in this Jewel. Has been going on for years.

  4. Wish them well with the business but 1 thing the store just has not woke up to yet just like the Old Jewel's did not do.They need security outside that store around parking lot. That area is still bad.Always has been -always will be.

  5. They expanded the liquor department and moved the 40oz fridge into the corner other liquor section instead of being front and center and easy to find.

@Roberta Driver - No security? What do you mean there is no security? The 1 single female guard that is always on her phone and just sitting down and talking to the beggers is not good enough for you?
