More About Buena Park Parking/Water Main Repair

From Ald. Cappleman's weekly newsletter:

"Starting today, the City's Water Department will start replacing a century-old water main at the following locations:
  • Sheridan Road (Irving Park to Buena)
  • Cuyler (Broadway to Sheridan)
  • Gordon Terrace (Broadway to Sheridan)
The 46th Ward Office was only recently notified that the construction was going to begin now, so we are currently working with the Park District and other local businesses to check for alternative parking options during construction.

    This is a LOT of parking to take out all at the same time... especially when we know work will not be going on simultaneously and we also know it's HIGHLY likely they won't be done in the specified 4 weeks. The Alderman should have known about this and the Alderman should get the Water Department to post more realistic parking restrictions. Just another example of a City that doesn't give a crap about it's impact on the lives of residents and the indifference of City employees to the people that pay them.

    Called the Alderman's office yesterday and was told they hadn't heard back from any of the local businesses regarding helping out with parking.

    Given the vast amount of land they've been buying up, I'd love to see Thorek help on this one. They have a massive parking lot which is perpetually empty and it would be a nice gesture of good will. Not holding my breath
