Somerset Place Construction Resumes, Safely

Last week Uptown Update posted about the asbestos removal situation at the Somerset that closed down construction. Some welcome news today from Zidan Properties, the owner of Somerset Place:
I wanted to update you on the Somerset Place Project.  The City of Chicago and Illinois EPA wanted us to develop a plan to deal with Asbestos Containing Material found in certain vinyl flooring in the building.  We submitted a Plan Design on 4/26/2013 and it was approved immediately by the IEPA and the City.

Two days following the approval of the plan, we retained an Illinois Licensed asbestos abatement contractor for the purpose of implementing the IEPA approved Project.  The contractor is a Union Chicago company that has done many projects in the City of Chicago, including City buildings, O’Hare Airport buildings and office buildings in the Loop.  The Contractor obtained required permits from the IEPA and the City.

The work will start today.
Wouldn't it be nice if all problems could be solved as easily and quickly?
