Wilson El Goes Retro
How cool is this? We don't know what the occasion was, but the Purple Line went all old school this morning around 9:55. A reader reports that the first carriage was full of CTA employees, most of them taking photos.
We usually shrink the photos we run to save bandwidth, but we're keeping these original size for all the Trainspotting folks who enjoy transportation pictures in all their full glory. Click to enlarge.
Update: A Facebook reader says, "Just transferring these cars which have been stored at Linden to the Skokie shops, but took a trip around the Loop as part of the move."
Update 2: Here's a short article about the move. The trains were 90 years old!

This is so very cool. I am so sorry I missed it! I wish I had known. WOW!
ReplyDeleteIt's springtime so when are they finally going to start working on the Wilson station?
ReplyDeleteEven though they are 90, they are still cleaner than the ones just put into service on the RED line...
