Brrrr! Shakin' All Over

Even Lionel (and his fishy little friends) know to bundle up from their perch at Montrose and Dayton.  Chicago will be getting its coldest weather in two years beginning today, so some reminders:
  • Please keep an eye out for anyone sleeping outside and call 311 to request a well-being check. There are still shelter beds available, even in the frigid weather.  People who choose to sleep rough in this weather probably don't have the mental capacity to decide to come inside, so city services will try to talk them inside, or at least into a warming van for a bit.
  • Don't forget about the city's warming centers, one of which is at 4740 Sheridan.
  • The closest hyperlocal weather station comes to us from Weather Underground in Lincoln Square.
  • We should be back to the 20s by Wednesday.  Just think of it as paying the piper for a January weekend in the high 40s.

  1. FYI, the police stations are open as warming centers & overnight shelters for the homeless. It's going to get dangerously cold. My poochy doesn't even want to go outside.
