Donate To Uptown Schools With "Donors Choose"

via "Friends of the 46th Ward Schools"
While the Friends of the 46th Ward Schools waits for official approval of their 501(c)(3) status from the IRS and to officially become a registered charity by the Illinois Attorney General, we encourage our community to support our 46th Ward Schools by choosing one of the many current Donor's Choose projects.  Choose based on your interests (arts, literacy, science) or a school you would like to support.  Remember, even small donations add up quickly.  And feel free to share with your friends, in real life, on Facebook, or via Twitter!

  1. I will be making a donation for the kids even thou the majority of my property taxes go to the public schools already. I think the school system needs some schooling on finance matters.

  2. I feel bad for the kids and everything, but it seems to me that the city could fund these things by getting rid of corruption. Bailing the city out with fund drives like this and days of service like Chicago Cares just allows the city to plod forward leaving its corruption unchecked. Corruption is why the city is short on funds and we're basically enabling the city's corruption with things like this.

Alternatively, the teachers could pay for some of this stuff out of their shiny new raises. I imagine those cost the city a hell of a lot more than a new musical instrument.
