Hey, runners and walkers -- there's a fun 5K coming up at Montrose Harbor on Sunday, September 16th. It benefits Make-A-Wish Foundation, which has granted more than 10,000 wishes to children with life-threatening conditions in Illinois since 1985. And you can wear a costume while you participate!
"We are pleased to offer a 5k fun walk and run along Chicago's scenic Lake Shore.
Help celebrate the magical and imaginative spirit that is Make-A-Wish by dressing up in costume. We welcome all the Super Heroes, Wizards, Space Adventures, Historical Figures, lovers of SciFi, and other fanciful figures to join us! Prizes will be awarded for best adult and youth costumes!
All walkers, supporters and volunteers are invited to celebrate after the walk and run with music and fun activities. With your support, the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Illinois hopes to raise $130,000, enough funds to grant the wishes of over 25 children in Illinois living with life-threatening medical conditions. Participants who pre-registered by August 31st, 2012 will receive a t-shirt and and children will receive a goodie bag."

UU Note: If you're into running, there's also the Stride Against Violence 5K Run/Walk on September 30th, sponsored by Uptown's Apna Ghar.
