Shots Fired At Sheridan & Lawrence

We're hearing from a lot of readers that there were shots fired at Sheridan and Lawrence tonight at around 5:20.  As far as we are aware, no one was hit, and the shooters -- who may have been involved in a robbery -- fled by foot westbound on Lawrence.  We haven't heard if they've been apprehended.  Police from both the 19th and 20th Districts arrived at the scene quickly and en masse.  If and when we hear anything new, we'll update.

  2. @unkown - that's sad.

Still trying to figure out why Philly is getting Fed Law enforcement help and Chicago isn't. Numbers don't even compare.

Instead of worrying about Chicken and who sells it in Chicago, Rahm should be asking Eric Holder what the hell is going on.

  3. Well that's disturbing. ...both the incident and the iPhone.

  4. If you're using an iPhone to read the post and then sent the text after reading this on your iPhone, it pulled the rest of the language from the website. It takes advantage of context like that.

  5. I used to live right there! I frequented the convenient store there! I hope they weren't robbing them. Uptown was the best area in Chicago, but then it started to feel like there was a change in the air. I agree about the chicken statement! Human lives trump political games any day!

  7. It will always be a part of Chicago or any large city living conditions. Unless you move into a small town, far from city living, that allows residents to help control crime in their own ways, you will always see undesirable people and gun shots blasting through the streets all the time.

  8. I thought those Ceasefire guys were suppose to help the situation? There is someone that is always sitting on the mailbox there loitering. Many others "hanging out" so I'm sure they will talk to the police.

  9. The Ceasefire group in Uptown, which was allied with O.N.E., was here because of grant from Bridget Gainer, which ran out a few months ago. When the money ran out, they ceased operations in Uptown. With the million dollars Rahm gave them, they will be back, but on a much more limited basis, with only two "violence interrupters." This should happen in a couple weeks. This is from a Ceasefire worker who spoke at the community meeting last week.

  10. Trumansquare, I know that most police do not really trust or feel like these "violence interrupters" can make a difference. Even rumors of some these guys still being in the gang.
