You know, we are sick as we can be of all the gangs (urban terrorists) and their stupid death games. We were really freaked out yesterday because those shots were so loud we thought they were right in front of our home.
But -- not taking away from the seriousness of the situation or the fear people are quite rightly feeling -- there are a lot of good people in Uptown, and a lot of activities going on, and residents who are actively working to make Uptown better. So we've got plenty of stuff to post today and we're going to do it.
Because wringing our hands and concentrating on nothing else but the few idiots who feel they have "turf" to shoot up (like a dog peeing on a lamp post, that's about how much they "own" the turf) gives the Bionic Gangster Grand Poobahs, or whatever idiotic names they call themselves, power over us. There are a hundred times the number of good people who live here than there are fools shooting guns and flashing gang signs. And this blog is for the people who care about the betterment and well being of Uptown. So here goes...
You definitely have that right, UU-- thanks!ReplyDelete

I agree, good pep talk.ReplyDelete
I'm tired of complaining. I want to take action. My ideas are this: 1. Start a neighborhood watch program on my street and have a contact at each building on my street to represent their findings and continually report them. 2) Get speedbumps on 4400 block of Racine... 3) Talk to alderman's office about offering mounting of cameras on our bldg pointing to offending known gang building behind us. Should be at the landlord's expense! Any thoughts?ReplyDelete
