Rockin' At The Dock

Want to get away from it all for a few hours?  One of the owners of The Dock wants UU readers to know they have quite a few events lined up this week, right into Labor Day:

"Tonight we have a $5 Beer bus heading to Toyota Park to see the Chicago Fire take on Richmond in the US Open Cup Semifinal! Only 15 or so seats remain, 50% OFF BEER AND FOOD at The Dock before you leave! Here is the link to the bus.

We then have a full week of fun, Reggae Wednesday, Karaoke on Thursday, the band South of 80 playing on Friday night, Visionaire on Saturday, Give Back on Sunday, and Little Johnny plays the blues on Labor Day.

Also, people always ask us if we're closing on Labor Day, we're happy to report we will be open into October!"

  1. Montrose Beach, with MonDog, the rentals at the south and the Dock, is truly a hidden treasure of Chicago.

Was there to grab lunch with a couple of friends and their dogs.

The weather was fantastic, lots of folks on the beach. The blue beach umbrellas looked all fancy; jetski, paddleboard rentals, volleyball courts ... and the north shore view ain't to shabby (neither is, according to popular opinion at my table, the Dock waitstaff - just sayin').

You couldn't ask for a better day at any public beach.

    Period.

Top that off with a trip along Montrose to the Purple Cow for some ice cream.

    ... all within walking distance.

It's the type of day that'll remind you of just how much potential there is in Uptown.

Enjoy it before it goes and gets all popular and crowded.
