It's really fun to watch the new Black Ensemble Theater building go up at Clark and Sunnyside. Good progress after years of fundraising!
Even though the theater building isn't completed yet, it's already got some scheduled guests. Seems that the American Theatre Critics Association will be meeting in Chicago for a convention next summer and they'll be holding an event at the new Black Ensemble Cultural Center.
Good to know that part of Uptown will be on display for people all over the country. Two more long-empty buildings filled on our main thoroughfares, and another reason to recognize our part of town as an entertainment district.
UU Note: The BET and how it will grow with the new theater space is mentioned in an article in the New York Times.
