In March, we posted that the beautiful building housing TCF Bank on Wilson just east of Broadway was for sale, along with its parking lots.
Readers who bank at that branch started getting letters this weekend saying that the branch will close on September 30, 2011.
So it makes us wonder if the building has been sold and TCF is leaving to make room for another tenant. Anyone with info? It's one of the few original buildings on that stretch of Wilson and we'd hate to see it stand empty. We'll be greedy and hope that whatever tenant replaces the bank will also sell something, and thereby contribute to Uptown's tax base.
What was the first shoe
ReplyDeleteThe first shoe was the building and parking lots were put up for sale ... the 2nd shoe being the notice TCF customers received that this branch was being shut down.
ReplyDeleteConverting the bank into a theater/performance space would be a great way to further the Uptown entertainment district concept.
