New Restaurant Alert: Reservoir

844-46 W. Montrose (via Google Street View)
Our friends at Chicago Magazine notified us that a new restaurant is planning to locate right in the heart of Uptown at 844 West Montrose. Reservoir is the planned name of the restaurant, and the owners hope to fill a void in the area.

From The Dish: Although it’s still in the early stages of development, Reservoir (844 W. Montrose Ave.; no phone yet) is coming to the Uptown–Buena Park area in six to nine months. Small-plate American food in an upscale setting will fill a neighborhood void, say the owners, Sam Banks and Aris Sulejmani, who also own the bar Hops & Barley in Portage Park. “There are only a few other restaurants in the area,” Banks says. “Bar on Buena. Fat Cat at Broadway and Lawrence.” The 60-seat project still needs a chef and a liquor license, so we’re all waiting to see if it holds water.

It's exciting news to hear about a brand-new business choosing to locate in Uptown. Let's hope this momentum continues.

  3. That's definitely an apartment building with no retail front. The lobby on the first floor is right behind those awnings. It's an old hotel rehab. I looked at an apartment there. Not sure where a restaurant could possibly fit. Wonder if the address is incorrect? 842 W makes much more sense...

  5. We have a lot more restaurants than he named. In fact, he only named bars that served food.

  6. The lobby is on the left side and you can see in the windows.

The windows on the right and right gate (844 W.) are newspapered over. There is a new orange public notice sign in one of those windows that confirms a business named "Reservoir."

  7. I have lived in 840 W Montrose for 5 years and would love to see a restaurant go in at this location. I received a postcard from the city last night informing me that they have applied for their liquor license - so things appear to be moving along.

With the addition of the Purple Cow at 838 and the recent upgrades to Food Town at the corner of Montrose and Hazel, this would be a great way to continue to enhance the area. Now if someone could lease out 842, we would have a nice string of retail locations on Montrose.
