CTA Renovations Begin

photo via "Uptown K" on Yelp
Looks like the CTA has finally started renovating at least one of the storefronts it owns on Wilson under the tracks. The former "Express Corner" restaurant at 1111 W. Wilson has been vacated for some time now and has newly posted work permits filed May 4 stating that all new electrical, flooring, and dry wall is being installed. Workers were already busy inside this morning. We are curious to see how the CTA will handle the neighboring building's facade during the rehab. We hope the brick and terracotta can be cleaned and reinstalled thus avoiding another bland brick storefront. Time will tell.
