"New Admiral" Complex Growing Fast

There must be something about the corner of Sheridan and Foster that inspires speedy construction.  Just a few months after ground breaking, the "New Admiral" is already four or five stories tall.

You can read more about this 31-story building-to-be at the New Admiral's website.  An 11-story building that had served as the Admiral by the Lake retirement community since 1960 is being replaced by the new complex.

  2. There is a minimum age of 62 for admission and at least another 18 months of construction before occupancy. It is pet friendly and will include a pool, spa, fitness and wellness center, a creative arts studio, retail stores, a mail center, nice floor plans with in unit washer/dryer, balconies etc.

I'm just not old enough yet. :(

  3. @Picard, Man, I was thinking the same thing. That would boost the "entertainment district."

  4. It's interesting that a "private construction" project can go up lickety-split. They're still working on Truman going on 3 years. The casino in Des Plaines started a little over a year ago and is almost finished. Big building, huge parking garage, driveways, millions of miles of electrical wiring-- not to mention they had to clear out a large number of big buildings before they could start. Guess when it's "government work" there's no rush.

  5. The pace of construction seems to be picking up nicely on this site as the wide base and lower floors are largely completed. If the finishes and landscapping are as nice as the renders, this will be an excellent addition to the neighborhood.
