Young Woman Attacked On Wilson

A reader writes in:
"Hey folks - not sure if anyone has sent you a note already, but early this evening, a young woman was attacked on Wilson (between Dover & Beacon), almost directly in front of the Wilson Yards skateboard shop. The attacker looked to be completely tweaked out on something, the victim couldn't have been more than 14 or 15 years old. We heard someone screaming horribly on the street, and by the time we got down there less than a minute later, a huge number of our neighbors had already come out, had helped the girl to safety in the skate board shop, and had detained the attacker. Terrifying and horrible, but amazing to see the immediate reaction of our neighbors coming together. Special props need to go to the gentleman who physically restrained the attacker while we waited for the police, and the guys from Wilson Yards who came right away to take the girl to safety. It was an incredible display of neighbors coming together, not willing to sit back and let violence happen around us."

  2. I love the 'neighborlyness' of some of the folks in Uptown. I was considering moving to Uptown after graduation - but to be honest with you all the crime and gang activity has made me rethink Uptown - no thank you

  3. It's the neighbors' eyes on the street that make it worth living here in the first place. The crime in the area gets as much news as it does because of their diligence.
