Busy Tuesday

If you bundle up, there are plenty of Uptown events to choose from this evening:
  • The one-night/one-candidate forums continue at Lakeview Church, 4716 N Malden.  Tonight features Befekadu Retta.  He'll arrive before the 6pm start time to mingle and meet residents, but has to leave around 6:45 to get to (presumably)....
  • The 46th Ward Democrats are sponsoring a candidate forum at Holiday Club, 4000 N Sheridan, beginning at 7pm..
  • At 7pm is the Chicago Driver Survival Seminar, a "FREE, two hour motorist education boot camp to arm Chicago drivers with the basic tools ... the Parking Ticket Geek will discuss how to deal with parking ticket issues, and the National Motorist Association's Barnet Fagel will speak to drivers about red light cameras and speeding tickets."  It takes place at the National Pastime Theatre, 4139 N Broadway.
  • Click on the hyperlinks for more complete information on each of these events.

  1. I have to wonder about this 46th Ward Democrats forum. I don't think there's been a forum where one of the sponsors (Karen Boehmer) loaned one of the candidate's campaigns 25 grand, or where another (Sean Tenner) is sponsoring a fundraiser for the same candidate. (Don Nowotny, BTW.) How can they sponsor an unbiased forum?

  2. GG,

I'm sure the 46th Ward Democratic forum will be unbiased.

I'm just picturing the candidates answering various random questions:

    Candidate not named Nowotny:

How do you plan to address the issues of crime in the ward?

    Candidate named Nowotny:

Don, what conditioner do you use to keep your ponytail looking so non divisive and youthful?

Don, would you like coffee or tea?

    Candidate not named Nowotny:

What is your opinion on TIFS?

    Candidate named Nowotny:

So Don is it true you saved a bus stop load of toddlers from the cougar that rampaged through the north side a few summers back? How many toddlers did you save, again?
