the 4600 block of Clark?
The hair/wig place at 4611-13 N Clark across from the Staples?
Dangit! I actually knew this one this time. Need to be quicker on the keyboard next time.
It's the first time I've managed to chime in in time, myself! You win too CLC :)
CJ, You are correct! A tip of the hat to you. We don't know for sure, but we imagine it's a throwback to the German immigrants who built many of the residences and businesses in Uptown around the turn of the previous century.
This just in! "The Heidelmeier Auto Garage Company, Chicago, Ill., are erecting a modern steam heated garage and repair shop at 3210 n. Clark Street, occupying a space 25 x 116 feet. It is to be a three story brick building, under the management of John Heidelmeier. It will be ready for occupancy on or around November 1, 1905."Can anyone figure out what the old address of 4611 N Clark street was?
the chicago history museum has a conversion table for old address to new after the system was changed from using the river as the north/south/east/west dividing line to the current system....3210 north clark became 4615 north clark in 1909... yay! mystery solved!
The link to the table is http://www.chsmedia.org/househistory/1909snc/start.pdf
Awesome, CJ. Thank you. We made a good team there!
