Uptown Meat Market

We keep forgetting that there's an organic meat market here in Uptown, near Sheridan and Argyle.  Can someone who's been there give a review?

  1. I stopped there once to get some ground lamb. The butcher cut some meat off a large shank and ground it while I waited. This was over the summer, so I don't remember much else about it.

  2. I'm not sure if this post has been overlooked, or if none of your readers have shopped there.
If no one has shopped there - not that I have myself (not much of a meat eater) - I'm curious as to why.

The last time I bought meat in the neighborhood was last spring at Fresh Harvest Market and...I don't want to badmouth the store, it made me unable to go in there again, or buy and eat any meat for quite a while.

Please repost this question again. Is this a good source of fresh meat in our neighborhood?

  3. I have been meaning to stop in as well, but I also kind of forget it is there now as I have been driving and taking the bus much more than walking over to the red line.

  4. I buy my eggs here. They've also got unroasted coffee beans which they'll roast for you. Good place.

  5. I met the owner Solaman. They carry free range chicken from Amish farmers of Iowa. The meat quality is much better for sure, and healthier too.

  6. My husband has gotten some meat from there. I don't remember exactly what it was he purchased, but I do remember remarking on the quality and freshness of it. Selection is a little limited, mostly because they are so focused on freshness. Since they're so close to us, we'll definitely make an effort to shop there more often.

  7. I have been there and have purchased the chicken---MUCH better than commercial chicken, and without all the added chemicals and hormones. You can taste the difference and it's worth it. I buy in bulk and freeze individual pieces to thaw one at a time.

  8. This place is amazing. I hardly ever eat meat, like 2 times a year, and had been buying it at the farmers market or Whole Foods. Never going back to Whole Foods for meat! The beef is just amazing, as are the chicken and the eggs. Love to support a local business, and this place is amazing.

    I bought some meat here.

    Yummy.
