If You Don't Vote Informed, You're Not Trying

In what we hope portends a new open and transparent aldermanic era in the 46th Ward, the candidates are making themselves available like never before.

First, a reminder that the Mercy Housing Tenants' forum continues tomorrow night, with James Cappleman taking the microphone.  Then there's the Great Debate at Borders on Saturday.

And now news of two more aldermanic forums where you can quiz the candidates:
  • 46th Ward Aldermanic Forum / The League of Women Voters of Chicago and the Peoples Church Host the Candidates
On Sunday, February 6, 2011 at 2:00 pm, the League of Women Voters of Chicago and the Peoples Church of Chicago will host an aldermanic forum with the candidates for alderman of the 46th Ward at the church, 941 W. Lawrence Avenue. To date, nine of the people on the ballot have accepted the invitation.
The program will include time for statements as well as questions from the audience to help the voters of the 46th Ward (Uptown) make an informed decision at the February 22, 2011 Municipal General Election. For the last 24 years, the ward has been represented by Helen Shiller, who has decided not to run for re-election.
The League of Women Voters of Chicago is a nonpartisan political organization encouraging informed and active participation in government. It influences public policy through education and advocacy. For more information, please see http://www.lwvchicago.org/.
