  2. Hi Candice,

Their website is www.mercyhousing.org - I did a quick glance and did not see any more information on the website. If you find more information online, please share. Otherwise, I'd recommend contacting the person listed on the ad.

    Thanks.

    Volunteer Tutoring Opportunity in Uptown!

The U.S.A. is markedly low in adult literacy ratings worldwide, and Chicago is no shining star in the mix, with an estimated 19% of Chicago residents lacking in very basic literacy skills, according to the National Assessment for Adult Literacy. Mercy Housing Lakefront needs your help! Do you have a passion for learning? education? reading? Become a volunteer tutor in adult literacy (reading, writing, basic math, and G.E.D. prep). Help your fellow Uptown neighbors face-to-face, and make a difference from one learner to the next in order to change an entire community. We provide 12 hours of tutor training to aid you in preparation for your sessions. Tutors must commit at least 1-2 hrs/wk for 6 months. Prospective tutors should be able to assist adults in improving their literacy skills and be sensitive to the needs of adult learners. We prefer individuals with some experience in tutoring or teaching. An interview, background check, and drug screen are required of all applicants. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please come to fill out an application at 4956 N. Sheridan Road M-Th. 9:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., call (773) 506-3480 ext. 109, or e-mail kbradley@mercyhousing.org.
