UNC To Host Aldermanic Forums

From: Uptown Neighborhood Council (UNC) e-News, September 20, 2010

Meet the 46 Ward Candidates—
*******************************
It’s official—UNC will host the first four aldermanic forums. This is your opportunity to learn more about each candidate and ask those questions you really want answered. Our intention is to give the candidates an open forum to share their vision for our ward + a good Q & A session.

There will be one candidate per event. We’ll begin with the first four declared candidates. The most recent declared candidates will be covered at a later date. Please mark your planner and invite your neighbors.

Meet the 46 Ward Candidates Forums

- Wednesday, September 29—Don Nowotny

- Tuesday, October 12—Molly Phelan

- Thursday, October 21—James Cappleman

- Wednesday, November 3—Mike Carroll

The Forums will be held at Nick’s Uptown at 4015 N. Sheridan.
Doors open at 6:30 PM—Forum starts promptly at 7:00 PM

We are excited to see the old regime break down, now it’s up to all concerned citizens to decide who will really listen and work with us to plan for a bright, new future.

Katharine Boyda, UNC President

  1. One thing I wonder about is if we would have all of these candidates if the job paid, oh let's say $55,000/yr.

  2. Any candidate who is a community activist is probably more motivated to do the work without a high salary. The problem is that all the candidates are now calling themselves community activists. Going to a couple of CAPS meetings and block club events after they announce their candidacy hardly qualifies them to make this claim, but most of them are hoping you don't notice that.
