The vandal who scrawled "You Selling Secert" on this former gang hideout now in housing court in the 4600 block of Broadway won't be winning any spelling bees anytime soon. We assume they meant "secret" though that still doesn't make much sense.
This reminds me of a few years ago, when some idiot wrote "BICTH" all over our garages. Geez, folks, you want to make your mark? Spell it right. (We'll still have Graffiti Blasters remove it, though.)
We hear from the court advocates that it's still going on, and the judge keeps giving the owner a progressively shorter leash to fix the situation. Owner's attorney and property manager have a million excuses, but no fixes. Next court date is in a couple weeks and we'll post asking for people to go to court if the court advocates ask us to.
This person was very busy last night. They tagged Wilson Yard too. Driving up Broadway this morning at 7 am, I saw someone at the residential building examining the damage. When I stopped at the Sunnyside light, there was a Target employee and security guard examining the damage on their glass entry door.
Also noticed the tag as far as the post office north of Lawrence.
Suzanne, please tell your daughter that the signs are correct. They say "Speed Hump" because they are wider than speed bumps, which are narrow. They put humps in alleys and on narrow side streets because of the way they perform, which is also different than speed bumps.
It's also written on the closed convenience store next to the Wilson stop
ReplyDeleteTime to call 311.

ReplyDeleteDid anyone attend the hearing last month and if so, what happened?

Maybe this guy helped out with the "Yeild" sign?
ReplyDeleteDoes this mean that "Da Spot" is closed, too? If so, thank God...I am sick of seeing businesses that encourage ghetto behavior and general trashiness.

ReplyDeleteYeah, Will. I guess if you had your way, everything would be in satin Pink and everyone would look like you.
Annnnnndddd... let's keep it on topic and stop hurling insults.
ReplyDeleteThis might be the perfect opportunity to note my teen daughter's objection to those alley signs that read "Speed Hump."
ReplyDelete"Mmmooom! Would you please fix THAT! It's so embarrassing and, you know, soooo WRONG!"
"Oh, Hrrmpf," I told her, "Take it up with Irish and Yo," our interim 46th ward Aldermen. ;-)
This was also written this morning on the employee entrance at Weiss Hospital this morning.

ReplyDeleteChuck - The girl was echoing the thoughts of a lot of us when we see that sign. It suggests that "Here is a place where you can get a 'quickie."
ReplyDeleteAnd of course her mother would have to agree, that it's a pretty wierd double-entendre!
