Because the decisions we will be making about the state budget in the coming weeks and months will have tremendous impact on every facet of our State and neighborhood, Sen. Heather Steans and I are beginning Town Hall meetings to present the financial facts, trends and choices that face us as we make these crucial decisions. The initial Town Hall Budget Meeting is planned for August 19, from 7:00 p.m. to 9 p.m. at St. Augustine College, 1345 W. Argyle St. This session will present important facts about the State's revenue, expense, pension and debt situation, along with a discussion of potential avenues to address the $13 billion shortfall our government is facing.
