ActionUptown, which offers solutions for Uptown and comes out of Ald. Mary Ann Smith's office, has a new blog entry about problem buildings and how to deal with them. Read it here.
It is a very informative and I did not really know anything about the process that exists by the City of Chicago. By seeing the listed buildings it does show it can be done. I would recommend reading it so if there are these type buildings in your area it is a giant step to get them shut down. It has the usual Chicago bureaucracy but it can be done.
I MENTIONED THIS IN THE "CALL TO ACTION" BLOG. THE PROBLEM WITH THE "ACTION UPTOWN" WEBSITE IS THEY NEVER SEEM TO UPDATE IT. THE OTHER ISSUE IS THAT WHILE MAS IS MUCH BETTER THAN SHILLER, GETTING HER TO DO ANYTHING IS A TOUGH NUT TO CRACK AS WELL. HER CHIEF OF STAFF STARTS OUT REALLY HELPING BUT THAN FALLS OFF THE RADAR. I GUESS ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS GET THE FORM, FILL IT OUT AND WAIT & WAIT & WAIT. BUT IT'S A START. PATIENCE IS TRULY A VIRTUE WHEN IT COMES TO CHICAGO POLITICS.

BIKEMAN, YOU SHOULD NEVER MAKE AN ASSUMPTION..WE ALL KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS. MOST PEOPLE ON THESE POSTS KNOW WHY I USE CAPS BECAUSE THEY'VE BEEN DEALING WITH IT FOR A WHILE NOW.
