According to the police, all Uptown lakefront parking lots are already full, at 9:30am. If you're going to the lake, don't plan on parking. Lots of people are already here for the fireworks.
I was out on the lakefront path around Six A.M. today. There were already people playing organized games of soccer and enjoying themselves.
Later I was at the Montrose Jewel and people were stocking up on supplies.
It is going to be a busy day on the lakefront in Uptown. Exactly as parks and streets should be on a holiday weekend. Loaded with people and laughing children.
Police closes the Montrose entrance into the Park at 10:00 but for reasons known only to them they just reopened it to traffic. Get in while you still can or face a 1/2 mile walk to the lake.
Where are those buses on Simmonds Drive that the MOSE events talked about? That is an extremely long distance to lug coolers, little kids, the elderly or disabled.
BTW, our homeless encampment welcoming committee is giving free demonstrations on how to piss on trees to Montrose northbound off ramp drivers and their families. Given that the city expects 600,000 people at Montrose today and we've seen no porta pottie brought to the site, as requested by the community weeks ago, those lessons or a box of Depends might come in very handy.

With all the road closings, this is a great opportunity to reclaim the streets as public ways. Grab a bike and roll!
