Young Entrepreneurs

Hey, the farmers aren't the only ones selling their wares today. A reader tells us some very small business owners (i.e., neighborhood kids) are selling lemonade for 50 cents and bottled water (nice and cold) for a buck, at Malden and Leland. If you're in the area, help 'em make some money on this nice afternoon.

  1. They have been selling the lemonade for a couple of days now. My partner and I were out walking the dog earlier and we stopped and got ourselves two large glasses. Quite refreshing on this warm day.

  2. Little kids are notorious for not washing their hands. I'd buy one to support them, but I certainly wouldn't drink anything that's not bottle and wiped off!!!!

  3. two46am.com: When I made my purchase the kids were wearing disposable plastic gloves (similar to the ones that the servers at Subway wear). I wouldn't worry about it too much. I remember when I was a kid I would set up shop like that and so did my parents when they were kids. Every summer in towns and cities all across America for decades kids have been doing this and as many times as I have heard about these stands I have never heard about anyone getting sick from them.

  4. Selling lemonade is ok, but selling socks or fake colognes is not? Just curious.

  5. Because having a group of kids out enjoying themselves by selling lemonade without any perceived negative impact upon the community is EXACTLY the same as having adults who are leaches of society selling socks and counterfeit colognes. EXACTLY the same I tell you.
