Shredding Event On Friday, June 4

Paper taking over your home?  Did you get the dreaded "overheating" light last time you used your home shredder?  (Not that we'd know anything about that.)  Relief is as close as Leland and Clark, where the North Community Bank branch located there will hold a "shredding event" on Friday, June 4th, between 10am and noon.  No limit on the amount of stuff you can bring to have shredded; no cost to those who take advantage of the offer.

  1. I have a question for anyone who has done this mass shredding before. Were the documents shredded in your presence or are the boxes and bags of documents piled up for shredding "later?" I'd want to witness the destruction of my papers.

Also, for anyone who can't make it Friday, there will be another shredding event at the United Center on Saturday, June 26th, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. This event includes electronics recycling. For more information, see http://www.chicagoshreds.com/

  2. I asked your question while I was there this afternoon.

The bank hires a professional outside document shredding service, Cintas, which services banks, law firms, accounting firms, etc.

The Cintas worker takes the materials that you carry to the Cintas truck parked outside the bank and shreds the materials right in front of you directly into the shred truck's secured holding bin.

  3. Thanks, truthbearer. That's what I was hoping to hear. I'll definitely be there tomorrow.
