What's up with this? A reader in the Truman Square area sent in this photo: her building's three city garbage cans and recycling bin were all burned to a crisp this morning around 8AM.
Most likely, someone smoking, and dropped their cigarette onto something flammable.
It happened when they were bulding 4627 N. Kenmore around the year 2000. They didn't gate up the property (as required by law), and had a porto-potty on the Construction site.
Apparently, someone was smoking & dropped their cigarette, as the porto-potty melted. It also burned down the garage i was using. Thank God i had the crave, and the 15 minutes i spent going to get the sliders saved my car from being destroyed.
A similar situation happened as they were building 4621 N. Kenmore. Again , the site was unsecured. i think that was was possibly arson, as they halso had some deliberate vandalism (in the form of tar on the front). They wound up having a homeless man with a dog living in the property, to make sure no one else did anything to it.
And for the record, i am against smoking, and think it was wrong for whoever started the fire, whether on purpose or accidental.
