Another dumb feel good program that accomplishes nothing. This is their solution to the violence in Chicago. Pay people to turn in their guns? OK, a criminal who is most likely to shoot someone is also likely to turn their gun in for a small amount of cash. Now people like da Mayor can get their photo taken in front of a table of probably mostly non working guns and say he is trying to stop the violence.
Wait, and these guns are against the law in Chicago. So we are paying people who broke the law to stop breaking the law? As long as we are handing out money for guns maybe we should hand out money for people to just stop shooting each other. OH, and the city/state are broke.
Could we expand this to include knives? Pretty sure they've got more killing potential than BB-guns. So, $15, maybe? I don't have any guns, but I could use some cash.
Neil, I agree. If the idiots that created this program only knew what really goes on. People from all over the Midwest will turn in Grandpas gun that has been sitting in the attic for years simply to get some money. We are actually the laughing stock because of this. I frequent several gun forums and they love this out in the booneys. They think it's funny.But hey,if it makes you feel good and the sheep think that it accomplishes something, why not.
