Everything Old Is New Again

It seems like just about 18 months ago that News-Star was talking about the corner of Winthrop and Leland, "where the city has been installing a new curb cut that has no discernable barrier to prevent pedestrians falling into the 5-foot-deep hole that is filling up with snow."  Commenters to UU complained in December 2008 that there were cars sliding into the crater, which hadn't been worked on in over a month.  Eventually everthing got taken care of and new handicapped-accessible curb cuts were installed.

Apparently it was so nice they want to do it twice.

The 4600 block of Winthrop is the Groundhog Day of sidewalk and sewer work, with the four refills of the hole at 4615 Winthrop over a two-year period.  Now it's Curb Cut Redux at the other end of the block.  At least snow and ice-skating cars shouldn't be an issue this time 'round.

  1. Remember when they fixed this just before a movie scene was shot near there? What's happening with it now?
