The lighting that will soon replace the rusted-out "antique" lightpoles on Broadway from Montrose northward has made an appearance. These were spotted between Target and Aldi.
Where is COURAJ? As I recall, tree planting was bad a couple years ago because it encouraged gentrification. These light poles and the trees and grass in the park across the street must be an outrage to their fragile sensibilities.
I'm waiting for the "blame the condo owners" campaign for this one. Somehow that "evil" group is responsible. I just know it.
I would've like to see a couple trees along there. Maybe along Aldi instead of Target just cause of the shade, but why does that little segment of Sunnyside warrant 4 lanes, 2 of which are for incoming traffic?
I think I'd rather see more trees, versus the 'vintage' street lights. Will the new Target affect sales at the 'retail camps' that pop up at Wilson and Broadway in the summer?
Seriously, despite the looming monolith of Wilson Yard, I'm looking forward to Target!
Nice to see the lights. I understand the lack of trees from a basic maintenance perspective. All of the debris would blow right down into Target's underground parking. Who knows, individual planters may have been in the multi-million $ budget...
That's likely a "private" drive and not publicly owned.
ReplyDeleteIn any case it would be nice to know if the lighting up and down Broadway will match.
I hope so. It looks good.
I may even forget that tens of millions of tax dollars went to pay for Wilson Yard.
Snicker. See ya on election day!

ReplyDeleteI'm glad to see the imporovement, but I'm sorry, those lights are hideous.
