Props To The Cupcake Gallery

A "Cupcake Gallery" fan writes in:
"Just wanted to show some support for a local business. I have visited The Cupcake Gallery three times now in the past three weeks. Their cupcakes are top notch (see above)! Just got done eating one. And the owner is a really friendly guy. If your readers have the time, stop by and grab one. They won't regret it. Key lime, orange creamsicle, red velvet, cookies and cream, etc."

UU Note: We've been told that Darius, owner of the Cupcake Gallery, has been doing some interior remodeling lately and that some sort of display case has been added, along with FREE WIFI. Check it out on Wilson between Malden and Beacon.

  1. The one time I went there they put my unboxed cupcakes in a bag! WTF?

  2. Darling, give them another shot. Could've been a new employee; I've always had good experiences.

  3. I stopped by on Saturday and picked up 6 cupcakes. They were a huge hit with guests I had over that night. I'll definitely be coming back for more! Darius, the owner, is a genuinely nice guy and deserves props for bringing his uplifting business to Uptown!

  5. Thanks folks for the comments - it means a lot that you guys support!

Darling, I opened up completely under-capitalized and having to get things done in stages. Sorry about the bag issue. We don't use them anymore - we've got cute little boxes that you'll just love.

I hope you reconsider and give us another try.

  6. I read about the Cupcake Gallery a few months ago on UU and decided to give it a try a few Sundays back. I got there about an hour after the posted opening time only the find the doors lock. The employees working that day told me to come back in 10 minutes instead of serving me. Needless to say, I was not going to wait outside in the cold for 10 minutes simply give the my business to a store that did not appear interested in having it. They lost a potential customer that day because of poor costumer service.

  7. Kevin - give them a break. They may have been following the boss' orders not to let anyone in until the merchandise was ready for purchase. Perhaps they mistook you for a "suspicious character."

A modest proposal, so to speak, to the management: There appears to be a new fad for wedding-cake-style displays of cupcakes instead of the traditional multi-layer cake, with the usual bride/groom or whatever on top. Maybe you could capitalize on this trend and let Uptown-area brides know that you can do this? As I understand it, wedding cakes account for a very substantial percentage of a bakery's business.

  8. The Cupcake Gallery has the most moist cupcakes I've ever eaten. The cake is so good that I'll finish off the cupcake bottoms after my kids lick off the icing.

As a personal recommendation, I would suggest getting the Cookies and Cream

  9. Is there a good time to go? I went on Saturday around 1:30 and they were pretty much out of everything.

  10. While we're making suggestions to Darius, I have one.

    Darius,

Would it be possible for you guys to branch out to cakes, specifically birthday cakes?
