Seeking Aspiring School Principals

Attention Educators: are you interested in becoming a transformative school leader and earning your Type 75 at no cost? New Leaders for New Schools Chicago has been attracting, preparing, and supporting outstanding leaders and the Chicago Public Schools they lead since 2001. By providing our New Leaders Residents with rigorous, case-based training and coaching as part of a 15-month Aspiring Principals program, and continued support during their first years as a Principal, we help develop exemplary, results-focused leaders who are taking their schools to high levels of academic achievement. We now have 124 program participants working throughout CPS to impact the learning of more than 50,000 students. These New Leaders are in schools across the district: in traditional, charter, and turnaround; in high school and elementary; and frequently serve Chicago’s most under-served neighborhoods.

Our Aspiring Principals -
  • Participate in a one year paid internship in a Chicago Public School as a full member of the school’s leadership team, directly responsible for raising student achievement and leading teachers.
  • Obtain over $100,000 worth of high quality training free of charge, facilitated by master principals, renowned educators, and national education and business leaders.
  • Earn a Masters of Education in Administration and Supervision and a Type 75 (if applicable) at no cost.
  • Receive support and guidance through the CPS Principal Eligibility Process.
  • Receive ongoing coaching, mentoring, and school support during their first years as a Principal.
Our deadline for the 2010-2011 school year is February 2nd! To learn more, visit http://www.nlns.org/ or email chicagoinfo@nlns.org.
