Riding The Rails

If you're a Red Line commuter ...

-- this week, Tuesday through Friday, between 10am and 2:30pm, you'll have to board on the outer platform instead of the inner platform at the Sheridan Station.

-- the reason is, there's track work being done between Wilson and Addison, so CTA is uttering that most ominous of warnings:  "Passengers should allow extra travel time."

Read about it at WBBM780.

  1. There are only two platforms at sheridan, the boarding change isn't that drastic: the redline just runs on the outer tracks, but the platforms don't change.

I also don't entirely see how this is news considering there has been construction like this on and off for the past few months. Checking the CTA rss feed shows notices for last weekend, as well as the weekend before that, and the weekend before that. http://www.transitchicago.com/riding_cta/systemguide/redline.aspx

  2. they've been doing this forever...construction causing this that is. but its not a big deal the train platform is the same its just the other side and i haven't noticed delays.

the media keeps posting it as news because the cta keeps issuing press release alerts and posting signs lol

  3. My northbound redline train took about 10 minutes to get from Sheridan to Wilson tonight at 5:30ish. Apparently, there is really no set times for the delays.

  4. Well it's news to me as I didn't know about it until the Uptown Update posted it.
