  1. Glad this ended well. Trying to kill yourself by getting shot by police has got to be one of the most selfish things ever. This person not only put himself at risk but also these officers and other bystanders. Glad the cops were able to bring this guy down without anyone being harmed.

  3. One a side note, anyone know what was going on at Lawrence and Kenmore yesterday evening? Coming home around 6:30 there were two paddy wagons and some squad cars, all with lights on and lots of activity.

if they had, they would have cut it so it looks like a cop attacking am innocent bystander.

  5. I saw this earlier on the Sun-Times website and congratulated the officers for a job well done.Speaking for me alone now, with former CPD officers in my family and one shot twice in the line of duty,I support the efforts of those who keep an eye on police.I know nothing of Copwatch or their methods but I've seen firsthand officers abuse their authority.

  6. I saw about 70% of this as it happened. I have to say it couldve gone down a lot worse. The guy was a slightly disheveled guy in track pants and a goatee. The more cops that showed up the more distraught he became. They were pretty crafty in that a number of them drew his attention by shouting and pointing and pretending maneuvers were happening in front of him. Then a few got up behind him and were able to tackle him. Not knowing what his crime was I noticed that they treated him particularly gingerly - almost as if he were a victim. After reading what his crime was I think they felt bad for the guy.
