Lawrence Closed Between Western & California

Not in Uptown, but it may affect your commute, especially if you use the Kennedy. From Ald. Gene Schulter (47th) in an email blast:

Dear Neighbors, I want to bring to your attention a street collapse on the 2400 block of W Lawrence Avenue between Artesian and Campbell. As a safety measure, Lawrence Avenue will be closed from Western to California until further notice. Please avoid this portion of Lawrence Avenue as much as possible. We will be sharing more information with you when the facts become available.

Update: Westbound Montrose and Wilson were hellish this evening, all the way to the lake, due to the Lawrence closure. Leave plenty of time if you're heading west.

  1. sounds like what happened on Montrose. the city's infrastructure is no spring chicken.

  2. With all the new construction the old infrastruture cannot handle it. I hope the main drains in the streets can handle all the load it will receive from the Wilson Yard Projects...

  3. I know that people have their beef with Schulter, but I think I would fall over and have a heart attack if Shiller sent out an email about something that is CURRENTLY happening in the ward...
