Bricolage Dedication And Pow-Wow August 22nd

That was fast! The bricolage is nearly completed and a Pow-Wow is planned for its dedication. From Ald. Mary Ann Smith's latest newsletter: Foster Avenue Bricolage Dedication and Pow-Wow Saturday, August 22.
"Save the date and join Alderman Smith, Mayor Daley, the Chicago Public Art Group and native American artists in celebrating the latest 48th Ward mural adorning the Foster Avenue underpass of Lake Shore Drive.
Entitled "Indian Land Dancing," the new bricolage mosaic pays tribute to native culture and history in Chicago and was developed through workshops with local Indian artists. Community members also came out to create circular tile for the two walls and assisted in the summertime installation. Thirty After School Matters youth apprentices made speedy work of putting up all the mirror and tile pieces and now are completing the grouting process. A website for this enormous piece of art will be created to describe the many photographs, images, designs and written text of this bricolage."

  1. Beautiful job! I wish they hadn't gone as far as they did with the 3D on some features (corn), I think that's going to be an irresistible target to the taggers. Great job though, they really turned that underpass around!
