Walking In A Summer Wunder-Land

Wunder's Cemetery, at Irving Park and Clark, is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year in creative ways. We've all heard about walking tours of Graceland, its neighbor to the North, but now you can walk Wunder's... and meet some of its inhabitants, who will come to life for one afternoon and tell you their stories. Read all the details in the press release below, and plan to walk Wunders on June 28, between 1 and 2:30pm. Cost is $15 per person.

  1. Its a lovely place and so much history but I like Graceland better across the street. When I bought our plots for the future use it was hard to decide between the two but Graceland was the choice and it looks much better in the grounds keeping and has so much more history but Wunder`s has it own personality.......

  2. I know this is rather odd......but a few years ago, we walked by this cemetery and I spotted this woman, all alone, dressed head to toe in black, in a wheel chair.
From then on, I have the most wonderful respect for Uptown's 'graveyards'. In fact a friend of mine's mother, was laid to rest in Graceland a year ago.
(across the pond from Potter Palmer's place, no less)

To this day, I'm quite sure this 'apparition' we saw, would be mortified by the WY project, and the general state of affairs, a few blocks north.
