Lake Effect News: Beat 2312 CAPS Meeting

Lake Effect News covers the proceedings of last night's Beat 2312 CAPS meeting today: "Crime rates keep plummeting in Beat 2312, but prostitutes have been working the afternoon rush hour, flagging down cars driven by lone males near the corner of Leland of Sheridan. 'Crime is really down on this beat due to community walks, CAPS and police really being up here,' Sgt. Beth Giltmier reported."

Read the entire story here, including tips on reporting the Working Girls of Leland Avenue and an update on the two problem buildings on Leland between Kenmore and Sheridan.

Remember, LEN updates daily, sometimes hourly... so read early, read often.

Update: Check out LEN for an update on the May 30 homicide at Lawrence and Sheridan.

  2. There seemed to be a lot of gang activity at Leland and Sheridan this afternoon. From outta nowhere a bunch of P-stones turned up and started yelling at somebody. I didn't get a look at who they where yelling at, a walked away and called 911. A squad showed up and they scattered.

  3. These cameras don't solve anything they just push the people to areas away from the cameras.

  4. Guitarjunkie - thanks for calling 911. I've noticed heightened activity on that corner as well. Prostitutes, drugs, and gang bangers. I call 911 quite often.

  5. What good does the camera do unless someone is watching on the other end. I wonder how many arrests are made from seeing the crime in action on the camera. If none what purpose do they really serve if you see the crime at the central station but no officers are sent to arrest the criminal they see do it. I think not many are watching these cameras.....

  6. The camera is pushing them to areas where neighbors are more observant. At the busy corner of Lawrence and Sheridan, you had store owners and social services who were more often than not contributing to the problem rather than be proactive to address it. I think the camera is doing exactly what it should be doing. It's just a shame that store owners and social services weren't doing more.
