I wish i new too. I have seen it happen off and on and I usually use the car wash and even thats shut down at times. I asked and they cannot even tell me a answer. Someone said its being managed poorly and they run out of gas and have to wait to be refilled...
Is that the station at Broadway and Irving? Because if it is, and my memory is correct that station was once (still is/was) part of an alleged mob operation. As I recall some time back an AMOCO executive went, ahem, "missing" after going to discuss that station's situation with the owner.
oh come on.. everyone knows there is no such thing as a mob. Anyway, I was there this morning and it was open as usual. The attendants now all wear bowling shirts with hot dogs and candy printed on them. Kind of silly.
BPs have been closing a lot in the past few years. The one at Broadway and Hollywood was open for about two or three months before it closed. Now it's part of the car dealership.
Well Holly tell it to the guys that are still having card games in the club at 30th and wells, a block from the house of the once, Angelo "the hook" LaPietra. My old home area in bridgeport......
the BP was shut down for some inventory type stuff last night or the night before, not sure if that helps anyone
Probably not related, but some Michigan company is buying up local Chicago BP stations:http://ca.news.finance.yahoo.com/s/01062009/31/link-f-prnewswire-atlas-oil-company-grows-chicagoland-business-new-purchase.html
I have good memories of the "old" Amoco at that location. They were among a tiny number of "24/7" gas/service stations back in the 80's. One Christmas Day I was in desperate need of emergency car repair and they sent a tow truck, repaired the car, and had it ready for use in the afternoon! Yeah, I gave them a nice gift.
I too remember that as an Amoco. I brought my car in all the time to have it "fixed." After $500 in repairs, something would always mysteriously go wrong with it within 6 months. After 2 years of that, I sold it for $500. The car, not the Amoco...
thats weird i was just in the convenience mart the other night and the pumps were busy
there used to be a gas station and irving and sheridan too. like a block over
It was up and running both times when I went past it on Wednesday (6/3) - once at around 9 am and again at around 3 pm.
El Rider: If it was owned by Frank Milito here is the Chicago Police/Mob link.http://www.ipsn.org/milito.htmlBarryfishing: The card game is by the alley north of 30th and Princeton. Feel free to double park your Crown Vic, and we'll leave the door open, the cigar smoke is too thick to breathe in here.
This happens every couple of weeks. They do run out of gas very often.I have seen this happen at this location a hundred times the last few years.
