A Month Of May Miracle, Part 2

We have another "month of May miracle" to report. The dilapidated, peeling, and long vacant CTA storefronts on Broadway have now been painted a uniform brown color. Is the CTA taking our list of things to improve the Wilson L to task? Kudos to either the CTA or Jones Lang LaSalle, whomever got the ball rolling on this. There is still much further to roll though.

  1. Great, its some really needed improvements. Now if they only clean up the ones that hang around and under it. That for sure be a miracle too..........

  2. Oh. My. Stars!

The rusting blue and orange is a terrible loss to the amateur photographers of the world, but that's about all who'll mourn its loss.

Hooray! It's really a sad commentary when thick brown paint *improves* the station's appearance!

  3. "Painted a uniform brown colour" is rarely much of an improvement to anything. Haven't seen this yet, but this case is probably one of those few exceptions. But brown, brown, brown. All over the city. Layer upon layer of brown paint that'll just peel off unevenly several months later to reveal patches of last year's mismatching shade. I think the city needs to change things up and paint over everything with a nice magenta or chartreuse... Trade out the black, brown, green, the other brown, and the *other* other brown for a while.

Though at least whomever painted over the building on the east side of Broadway just south of Sunnyside showed some creativity and alternated the shades of brown. Looks like it's doing an impression of the world's most depressing carnival tent...

  5. Fresh paint aside... Does anyone kow about gunshots fired Thursday night on at the Wilson El station? I had just stepped off the Wilson Bus at Broadway last night around 9:30 p.m. when I heard screaming from the El tracks overhead. Then I heard several "gunshot" sounds and saw people running out of the exits. I also ran the one block to my home as police started surging on the area. Did anyone else see this or know what happened?

  6. It's a miracle - but brown? Hate to be a wet blanket, but who thought that would be fresh and inviting?

Oh well, at least it looks better.

  8. What would also help at this corner, is a 2-ton
Glade dispenser. Summer pee-season is here.

  10. Kenny, you should read what they say about Wrigley Field. "The whole neighborhood is a toilet on game days. Go where you like." Echos what we've heard from other commenters in the past.
