Jamba Juice On Wilson Would Be Oh So Nice

If you are like us, you are frustrated with the large amount of vacant storefronts in Uptown, particularly on both Broadway and Wilson. What businesses would you like to see? We think Jamba Juice would make a great addition. It's both quick and healthy and is something commuters and students at Truman could take with them. There are several great locations on Wilson...how about the former Curves space near Wilson and Racine, or the empty space next to 7-Eleven at Wilson and Clifton...or even the space next to Magnolia Cafe? The possibilities are endless. Our job is to let whatever businesses you want to see in Uptown KNOW they are needed. You can contact Jamba Juice at 877-RE-JAMBA or email them at realestate@jambajuice.com
Any other ideas?

  1. Ha. They were supposed to go into the Goldblatt's building years ago, but pulled out. I think they even had the canopy up for a while.

  2. Wasn't that "Smoothie Planet?"
We think that the foot traffic on Wilson is better, with all of the L train commuters and Truman students, it would be great.

  3. How about a branch of Nuts On Clark? It's such a bother sometimes to have to go all the way to Clark & Grace to get really great goodies at bargain prices (especially on Cubs days)!

  4. I would love to see Jamba Juice and many others to fill the empty storefronts and be able to walk there and enjoy. But until all the low-lifes and gangs that hang around the Wilson & Broadway areas I doubt there will be many takers. Why would I put a business there and have all the problems associated with what these people would cause me and my customers......Until the area is made safer I would not hold my breath to see any of these move in...

  5. A decent barbershop would be cool.

  6. Considering the current economic climate, the CTA holds the most power to direct development of sidewalk traffic on the 4600 block of Broadway.

Private capital options are a huge risk. The recession isn't over. Unemployment is rising. It's rising in Cook County at a much faster rate than DuPage and Lake County.

You need the Alderman on your side to develop the block. Fontana Grill needed slightly more time to get their liquor license. They contributed to Citizens for Helen Shiller.

Phone calls to Jones Lang and the CTA will be worth as much as calls to Jamba Juice.

  7. Great idea! I've wanted one of these for years. I also want a Chipolte.

  8. Im all for Jamba Juice, but please don't call their product healthy. Those-disguised-as-healthy drinks are loaded with carbs, sugar, and even corn syrup. A simple Internet search will back up what Im saying.

  9. Kadee - it's healthier than nearby convenience store options that sell flaming hot cheetos like crazy!

  10. Forget Healthy! We need a Cold Stone Creamery ASAP. I agree with the Chipotle addition as well. Just don't go messing with the Wigs on Wilson store...that's the bomb!

  11. @Kadee is right.

Jamba Juice would be great, but they have lots of unhealthy choices in addition to healthy ones. If you want something healthy, you have to order a small size and avoid the "Moo'd" drinks. Men's Health magazine calls the Jamba Juice Chocolate Moo'd Power Smoothie, the "worst drink in America."

    See http://www.menshealth.com/eatthis/20-Worst-Foods/19_Worst_Drink.php

Calling Jamba Juice healthy is misleading. It's like saying Wendy's is healthy because they sell apple slices -- while ignoring their Triple hamburgers.

  12. Jamba has a whole line of "Jamba Light" drinks that are around 180 calories and taste great. They are my new addiction. You can add a shots to your smoothie like mulit-vitamins...the new breakfast oatmeals with just bananas are great. Some of their smoothies are high calorie but they have great low-calorie options too.

  13. I email chipolte about once every 6 months regarding putting a store here... I do request Lawrence and Broadway though....

I am fine with Jamba... it would be nice to see something that I could actually DO or spend money on in my neighborhood... rather than drive or train it somewhere else...

or how about a panera bread?
