From Ald. Schulter (47th Ward): "The Chicago City Clerk's Office will be available at my office [4237 N. Lincoln Ave.] on Saturday, June 6 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm for sticker sales. Residential Permit Parking Stickers and Guest Passes will also be available."
We previously mentioned: "You can buy your Chicago Vehicle Stickers and residential parking permits at Alderman Smith's office (48th Ward), 5533 N. Broadway, on Thursday, June 4 from 10am to 5:30pm. You must be in line by 5:30pm to be served. The City Clerk's Office prefers payment by check or money order but will accept cash. Credit cards are not accepted."
No word on Ald. Shiller's website or via email newsletter about whether the 46th Ward office will be participating in the neighborhood office sticker sales.
Update: One of our commenters discovered online that the 46th Ward Office (4544 N Broadway) will be selling city stickers on Tuesday, June 9, 1-6pm.
Update 2: Alderman Shiller has finally added the information to her website about sticker sales.
I guess with a Currency Exchange on every other block Ald. Shiller does not find it as necessary.

I probably will just buy mine online again. It was quick and simple last year. And I don't have to take the chance of seeing Shiller...if she doesn't show up at the public events I attend, I'm not showing up at her office! I think we're both better off this way.
Sure theres always plenty of things Ald. Shiller does not find necessary. Just walk through Uptown and you will see what I mean..............

ReplyDeleteI'm surprised her office didn't outsource this to the neighborhood block club... I called into her office one day for a couple of issues & her staff's response was, "call the block club" for each question. I actually asked, "then, what do you people actually do?" They laughed.
ReplyDeletePerhaps it's time to start taping these conversations. I'm thinking they might come in handy, say around election time.
ReplyDeleteI've called Shiller's office on numerous occasions and they've been helpful, if they didn't have an answer they called me back when they found it. You have to remember Shiller's office isn't a Starbucks where you can cop an attitude and demand immediate satisfaction.

ReplyDeleteYeah, I've never had that from Helen's office. We're in agreement there. Why should I want to be satisfied by people I'm paying?
I'm not sure people "demand immediate satisfaction" when they go to or email Shiller's office. A simple "we'll look into that" and a little follow up would help in many cases. I think its all in the tone that her office displays that pisses everyone off.

There's a slight difference between being cordial or having the "customer is always right" attitude, which is what many of you have. I can't blame her for not giving a damn, I wouldn't either if I had to deal with daily pissing and moaning of everyone expecting her to solve your problems.

If Helen is sick of "pissing and moaning" maybe she should make this her last term? Better yet, she could leave office now and we could have an election to find someone who would actually do the job and act on behalf of the whole ward.
