Original Owner Of The Houndry Seeks New Location

We've recently been made aware that Jack Stanley, who started the very popular doggie daycare The Houndry, is involved in an ownership dispute over the company. While that continues, he writes that, "We have decided to focus our efforts on reestablishing ourselves and our services in a new location." He's also offering dog walking in the interim. If you know of a great location for his new business (and how great would that look in one of the empty storefronts in Uptown?), or if you and your pooch would like to take advantage of his professional services, you can contact Jack at thehoundry@hotmail.com.

  3. We also received the above email as we are customers of The Houndry. I'm taking the letter with a grain of salt as it's all very "he said, she said". In fact, I think it certainly says something about the new owner's integrity that he would send such a letter out to all customers.

In the time we've been taking our pooch to The Houndry, we've felt very comfortable with our dog in the care of Jack and his staff, especially since they have gone above and beyond for us in a few situations. We'll see if that will be the case with the new owners.

  4. Jack has been nothing but completely wonderful with our dog, even buying him special dog food while we were overseas and sending us email updates. This email smacks of something similar I experienced from the Cheetah Gym a couple years back, and given that affair, I have every confidence that Jack will prevail and we will gladly patronize his latest pursuits. Also will be avoiding the Houndry going forward--thanks for the warning!

  5. Interesting! Is the new owner - Tony - the same guy that used to own Tony's sports (the previous occupant of the space)?

I personally have never been that impressed with the Houndry's knowledge of dog food/care and therefore chose not to use their day care services. On the other hand, I do appreciate such a cute business in the area and have tried to purchase things like a dog bed, etc from the store. I'm looking forward to hearing more about the grooming services.

Fyi, for dog lovers in the neighborhood, I highly recommend 4 Legs Pet Products on the 3800 block of Clark.

  6. We just left our dog for the first time (we are from out of town and our normal border was on vacation), we couldn't have been happier with Mick, J.P., Chad, and Joe. They were flexible, friendly and very professional. I would leave my dog again in a heartbeat. Thank you, now we have a wonderful back up when visiting in Chicago. Sincerely, Sandy Isaacson (Chagrin Falls, Ohio)
