Big Rubble In Little China(town)

We passed the site of the former (much-loved) Thai Grocery at Argyle and Broadway the other day and saw lots of construction work going on inside. We don't know what business, if any, will be taking over the space, but it's gotten a building permit for "INTERIOR REHAB OF EXISTING FIRST FLOOR AND 2ND FLOOR RESIDENTIAL IN A TWO STORY MIXED USE BUILDING. DE-CONVERTING FROM 2 UNITS TO 1 UNIT." Readers, any idea what will be happening there?

  1. Maybe it is the site of the 46th ward Kool-Aid Factory. We knew that we were going to need one prior to the next Aldermanic election, could this be the site?

  3. Really? Love that place and always wished there was more room for seating. How wonderful.

  4. Definitely Ba Le - they had a little sign up in the window before construction started. From what I've seen when the door's been open they've completely gutted the first floor all the way down to the foundation. They've also bricked up the loading area in the alley behind. I wonder if they're planning on connecting the two buildings across the parking area they also own.

  5. Maybe a massage parlor. That would be good for the area............
