Saturday Night's Alright For Knifin'

FROM STNG WIRE REPORTS

Two men remain hospitalized -- one under police guard -- after they stabbed each other during a fight Saturday night at their Uptown apartment building on the North Side.

At 9 p.m. Saturday, the two men, aged 57 and 56, were in the first floor vestibule of the building where both live on the 4600 block of North Magnolia Avenue when they began fighting, according to a Town Hall District police lieutenant, who said the apartment building is an SRO, or single-room occupancy living space.

The older man allegedly attacked the other man with at least one knife and the younger man fought back and also used a knife to stab the older man, according to the lieutenant.

Both were transported to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center where the 56-year-old was in critical condition and the other man was in serious condition and under arrest and police guard, the lieutenant said.

The fight was the culmination of an ongoing dispute the men had been having for a couple of months, according to the lieutenant, who said the men live in separate apartments on the first and second floors of the building at the Magnolia Avenue address.

The fight was not gang-related or domestic related, but it was not known immediately what they were fighting about.

No charges have been filed as of 2 a.m., the lieutenant said.

Belmont Area detectives are investigating.

  1. Funny, were playing cards that night and we were joking that the squad cars parked in front must have been my security detail...

  3. The address is 4626 Magnolia. It's run by Mercy Housing. I've talked to a couple of the residents and there are a few living there who terrorize the remaing residents. The property manager is Cynthia Dean, 312.447.4582

  5. 34. While the 57-year-old Plaintiff has been banned and forced to
walk up to seven miles per day just to take care of Email he must for
his Paralegal Studies, blatant Political organizing continues in total
violation of Federal Campaign Financing laws but as long as they get
the residents to vote, no one stops this obvious misuse of taxpayer
funds. Plaintiff suffers from the remnants of a 1985 gun shot wound in
his left leg as well as a badly injured right ankle and is often in
sever pain as a result of this callous and abusive treatment
perpetuated by Harold Washington Corp., LLP Management.
