Sarah's Circle Winter Walk, Feb. 8

Latest forecast: Sunny and 37! A good day to get out and enjoy some relatively nice weather.

On Sunday, February 8th, 2009, Sarah's Circle will host our 17th Annual Winter Walk, a walk through the Uptown neighborhood of Chicago to raise much needed funds for Sarah's Circle, an agency committed to serving women who are homeless. Winter Walk also increases awareness around the complex issue of homelessness.

While walking we will reflect on the culture and vitality of this diverse neighborhood juxtaposed with the struggle of living with and fighting homelessness during a Chicago winter. This is an opportunity to gain knowledge about how homelessness affects women and how we can work together to combat its destructive force.

You can help make the 17th Annual Winter Walk a success by collecting pledges, walking with us on February 8th, and encouraging your friends, family and co-workers to join your team. This is a wonderful chance to engage others with the issues of homelessness and the services Sarah's Circle provides.

For more information please contact Caitlin Joycesmith, Volunteer and Education Coordinator at cjoycesmith@sarahs-circle.org or 773.728.1991 x303.

Well, one answer to this problem is called "Wilson Yard," but I doubt anyone will want to dialogue about that.

  2. Yeah billyjoe, there isn't much to dialogue about regarding this topic and Wilson Yard since new residents of WY would come from outside of the ward anyway. Remember Peter Holsten's signature on the letter giving first dibs to public housing residents?

    Thanks for playing though...

  3. "Wilson Yard" is an answer to homelessness like an aspirin is an answer to cancer. A very bad answer, wrong, no partial credit earned/given. It amy even be more analogous to giving a placebo (sugar pill) to treat diabetes.

  4. Why would anybody want to be homeless in Chicago anyway? A one-way bus ticket to Miami is only $145.00. I am sure some of them could scrape that up. Then they would be warm!!
