Chicken On The Run

Next time you're in the vicinity of Clark and Montrose, stop by Annette's, which just opened this month in the strip mall on the southwest corner. It's take-out or delivery only (no eat-in facilities), but the prices seem reasonable and the chicken smells great. Post a review!

  1. FYI: Annette's is in the 47th Ward, on Montrose just west of Clark St.

My Google search turned up this PDF, which suggests that Annette's chicken is prepared ahead of time and shipped in frozen form for final preparation and take-out sale in outlets such as truck stop mini-marts.

Can it be any better (or worse) than the stuff from Popeye's on Wilson, or Cheng's under the Bryn Mawr el stop?

I've often wondered about Cheng's. Those are some of the biggest "chicken" wings I've ever seen. That can't be natural. If it were, chickens could fly great distances.

  3. If Annette's hasn't been shut down for health code violations, I'd have to assume that their food is better than the mother cluckers at Popeye's.

Not that I mind Popeye's so much (better than KFC); but, that particular location gives me the willies.

  5. Let's not make this all about BillyJoe. That's his goal.

  6. I just got done eating a 4 piece meal at Annettes. It was good, I doubt very much that it was frozen and shipped there to be warmed up later. The potato wedges are awsome.

  7. i am surprised IrishPirate hasn't commented.

Believe it or not, we BOTH AGREE that Jake's at Montrose & Sheridan has some of the best chicken, which they say is also broasted.

They have great meal deals, as well.

    It'd be interesting to compare.

  8. You might like to check out http://www.broaster.com/ for more on the "Broaster To Go" program. Clicking the Fresh and Frozen Foods link at the top gives you a bit of info on what actually might be fresh and what probably is frozen.
