Outside The Wilson L, Winter 1985

The view here hasn't changed much in 24 years. We wish the original globe lighting above the entrance (visible in the photo) was still in use around the outside of the station. Occupied storefronts would be a plus too.

  1. Yes, I believe he was on an undercover mission here. In this photo he was walking to his 3-tone Lincoln Continental with a vinyl top, parked in the alley.

  2. The station storefronts look to be more utilized in 1985 than they do now. The building terra cotta also looks cleaner. So much for progress...

  3. If you took a B&W photo there today, I wonder how much different it would look....

  4. Skinny people and occupied retail space. Oh, how times have changed...back when the local market was mostly canned goods and fresh meat/produce rather than processed junk food.

  5. I think this was the long forgotten time prior to flamin hot cheetos.

  6. I left the hood in 1984. Yes, believe it or not short timers, there was a bustling meat market there. One of my friends dad was a butcher there. NO Pun intended.
I can still vaguely remember going to Gigios across the street. It was dangerous back then. So litle progress in 30 plus years. Sad really..

  7. I was listening to Madonna then, I'm listening to her now. She's only worth $400 million more these days, even after paying off her Scottish male escort.
